Service Dogs
This is the place to discuss task-trained service dog/assistance dogs of all kinds. Service dogs are trained to do work (such as guide work) or perform tasks (such as retrievals) for disabled individuals. In the US and certain other countries, they have public access rights.

Therapy Dogs
Pets who have appointments to visit people in hospitals, nursing homes, schools, etc. are called Therapy Dogs. They don't have public access rights.

Emotional Support Animals
People who have psychiatric illnesses may be eligible to get an Emotional Support Animal, which is a pet they can keep in their home even if pets usually are not allowed. They do not have public access rights.
